Dr. Husna Nugrahapraja

Husna Nugrahapraja received a PhD from the international doctoral program in agrobiodiversity at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy, in 2015. Dr Nugrahapraja’s research is concerned with genomics and transcriptomic data analysis of pollen–pistil interaction in maize mutants. The major objective is to decipher the pollen–pistil mechanism in maize during crossing incompatibility events, focusing on the genetic interaction between ovules, silks and pollen and identifying the molecular basis behind the process. During his PhD, Dr Nugrahapraja discovered the role of non-coding genomes, especially long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), in maize nearisogenic lines (NILs). To date, his research has focused on data analysis of big-data biology, such as genomics and transcriptomics, and deciphering the role of lncRNA in molecular systems of living organisms. He is currently involved in analysing transcriptomics datasets from fruit ripening and plant–disease interactions.
