“Nature…, it was created prefectly balanced. So are humans, as part of all beings in nature. But we are different. We are all distinguished from others by the grace of mind and heart. Mind and heart which invent art, science and technology that creates progress in harmony.” These are Dicky A. S. Soeria Atmadja’s thoughts that drive him into a cartographer.

His passion in cartography is undoubtful, in a believe that he could express his capabilities and years of experiences in art, science and technology integratively in balance.

Holding academic background in Geospatial Information and Industrial Management as well as his passion in graphical art give him a more complete perspective in looking at a problem. Considering different aspects to reveal and convey Geospatial Informations properly encourages him to use management as a useful tool.

His 25 year of professional journey across nearly 20 countries as a cartographer, geomatics engineer and later a heritage conservator enriches his experiences. His persistence in cartographic research and cartographic works, particularly in historical cartography and cartographic heritage during these years leads him to continuous participation in International Cartographic Association (ICA)’s Symposiums/ Conferences.

Currently, his position as the Vice President of ICOMOS Indonesia –a UNESCO’s advisory body in cultural heritage conservation– gives him a great opportunity to explore cartography in various cultures, times and circumstances. It also opens a broader perspective regarding cultural aspects to seek solutions to problems emerge in our world and to maintain the balance of nature.
