Dr. Eng. Asep Saepuloh
Dr. Eng. Asep Saepuloh was graduated from bachelor degree under Department of Geological Engineering, Faculty of Earth Science and Mineral Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia in 2004 with thesis entitled Geologi dan Geotermal Gunung Guntur Garut-Jawa Barat. He has a Master of Engineering (M. Eng.) in Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Kumamoto University (Japan) in 2007 with tittle of the thesis Detecting Surface Condition and Topographic Change of Active Volcanoes by SAR Data Analyses and a Doctor of Engineering (Dr. Eng.) in New Frontier Sciences from Kumamoto University (Japan) in 2010 with tittle of dissertation Comprehensive Analyses and Applications of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Data to Active Volcanoes for Characterizing Surface Geology, Geomorphology, and Crustal Deformation. He started his career at Geological Survey of Japan (GSJ) – the Advanced Industrial Sciences and Technology (AIST) from 2010 to 2013 working on microwave remote sensing for geology and volcanology applications. In 2013 he was appointed as a lecturer in study program of Geological Engineering at the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology – Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia. Since then, he has been developing actively advanced remote sensing methods and technics for earth sciences observation in the Center for Remote Sensing (CRS) – ITB. His research is directed towards the use of microwave remote sensing for geological applications with the specific aim of use backscattering model approaches to integrate spaceborne and field data into geologic models. He is currently an active member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth’s Interior (IAVCEI), IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS), International Geothermal Association (IGA), Ikatan Ahli Geologi Indonesia (IAGI), and Himpunan Ahli Geofisika Indonesia (HAGI). Currently, he is also appointed as an editor-in-chief of Bulletin of Geology (ITB) and editor of ASEAN Engineering Journal (AEJ).
